Poko poko
Drink responsibly
On Curaçao we say poko poko: little by little. Good rum is made slowly, and it is best enjoyed the same way, with good company, good food and time to talk. We want every glass of AnnaBay Club to be a good memory, so we ask you to enjoy it responsibly.
Legal drinking age
Our rums are for adults of legal drinking age only. On Curaçao that is 18. In many other countries it is higher, for example 21 in the United States. Always follow the law of the country you are in. Please don't share our content with anyone under the legal drinking age.
Our tips for enjoying rum
- Sip, don't rush. Our aged rums are made to be savored. Take your time and enjoy the aroma and the finish.
- Eat something. Drinking on an empty stomach makes alcohol hit harder and faster.
- Alternate with water. A glass of water between drinks keeps you hydrated, especially in the Caribbean sun.
- Know your limit. Keep track of how much you drink. A cocktail can contain more than one serving of rum.
- It's fine to say no. You never have to drink, or drink more than you want to. And never pressure anyone else.
Never drink and drive
Don't drive, ride a scooter, boat or dive after drinking. On Curaçao, take a taxi, ask your hotel to arrange a ride, or agree on a designated driver before you go out. Joining our RumLocker tour? The ride from your hotel is free, and we can arrange your ride back at a fixed price.
When not to drink at all
- If you are under the legal drinking age.
- If you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant.
- If you take medication that does not combine with alcohol, or have a medical condition. Ask your doctor if you are unsure.
- Before driving, swimming, diving, or operating machinery.
At the RumLocker
Our tastings are small servings, meant to discover the flavors, not to get drunk. We only serve guests aged 18 or older and may ask for ID. Our team may decline to serve anyone who has had too much to drink, for their own safety and for the comfort of the other guests.
